Richard Karlen, M.D., Pediatric ENT Specialist


Richard Karlen, M.D., is a board-certified ear nose and throat (ENT) specialist who treats patients who have ear pain, sinus issues, chronic ear disease, airway management needs, angiofibromas and nasal encephalocele. He received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and completed his residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics. He then served four years in the United States Air Force as chief of otolaryngology at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas. He is a member of local and national medical associations, including the Society for Ear, Nose and Throat Advances in Children and the American Academy of Otolaryngology; he serves on the latter’s committee on pediatric ENT. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology.

He practices at the St. Paul Campus of Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare.
