Kevin Murphy, M.D.
The medical director of Gillette's Duluth Clinic is Dr. Kevin Murphy, a pediatric physical medicine specialist. Physical medicine specialists not only treat medical problems, but also order therapy and recommend special equipment. Equally important, the physical medicine specialist helps the patient and family deal with the psychological and social effects of the patient’s condition.
Dr. Murphy, a Minnesota native, has practiced in Duluth for more than a decade. He has a special interest in caring for children with disabilities across their life span, helping them transition into adulthood, where their medical and emotional needs may be much different.
Assisting Dr. Murphy is Renee Lamanna, R.N., who works with patients in the Duluth area who may need ongoing medical services. Maintaining and refilling baclofen pumps that reduce spasticity is one of her primary responsibilities. Patients and their families also can call on her for referrals to community rehabilitation services, such as physical and occupational therapy, or to consult with schools and other institutions on appropriate accommodations for patients. At all of Gillette's northern clinics, an orthotist also will be available to make models, and adjust and fit braces.
