In 1897, the Minnesota State Legislature created Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare as the nation’s first public hospital for children with disabilities. Gillette began as a facility treating children with such diseases as tuberculosis and polio. Today, we specialize in treating short-term and long-term disabilities that began during childhood. Our hospital is recognized internationally for treatment of complex medical conditions using the newest, most effective techniques.
