At Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare, music therapy is available for inpatients (patients who are staying overnight at the hospital). Our full-time, board-certified music therapists use music to provide support and distraction during medical procedures, help patients cope with a hospital stay, and encourage the growth of physical and cognitive (thinking and learning) abilities. Music therapy is also a great way for patients to relax and have fun!
Participants don’t need music experience or abilities, and patients of all ages can participate. We tailor each session to patients’ specific needs and interests. Participants can sing, move or listen to music, write their own songs, and play instruments and games.
Why Choose Gillette?
- We offer music therapy to patients of all ages during a hospital stay.
- Our music therapists can help people cope and have fun while in the hospital.
- We offer specialists who collaborate to provide comprehensive care.
Music Therapy: Kids Being Kids
Children who have disabilities or complex medical conditions often cope with stress, grief and anxiety—especially when they’re in the hospital. Music therapy is one of the many tools we use to decrease anxiety for our patients.
