Psychology

At Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare, our psychologists specialize in evaluating and treating children, teens, and adults who have mental health needs related to complex conditions. We provide individual and family therapy, along with caregiver support, related to disorders that affect mood, anxiety, behavior, adjustment, and activities of daily living.

Our psychologists collaborate with other Gillette specialists to provide comprehensive care for referred patients. In addition, through Gillette Lifetime Specialty Healthcare, we evaluate and treat patients who have needs that continue into adulthood. At Gillette, psychology services are available to patients receiving inpatient and outpatient interdisciplinary medical care.

Evaluations and Treatments We Offer

Our psychologists offer evaluations for children, teens and adults to determine their cognitive (attention, thinking and learning) abilities, academic skills, levels of psychosocial development and daily living needs. Evaluations might include testing as well as gathering information from family members and caregivers, other health care providers, or teachers.

Using the results of our evaluations, we develop strategies to help patients maximize their abilities at home, at school and in the community. We offer individual and family therapy, and we can help families consider related options involving mood and behavior management.

We also assist teens and adults in making the transition to adulthood, including planning accommodations for secondary education.
