Mobile Outreach Clinic Schedule and Map

Gillette Children's Mobile Outreach Clinics are designed to help people with disabilities gain access to assistive technology services in areas where those services are not readily available throughout Minnesota.

The program operates out of St. Paul, Minnesota, and sets up more than 200 mobile clinics throughout the year. We have saved our patients more than three million miles of travel during the past 10 years.

Traveling in specially equipped vans, staff members bring assistive technology services to these clinics. In addition to workstations, materials and tools, the van has the capability of transporting a wide range of specialized assistive technology devices to outreach sites.

Our Mobile Outreach Clinics are tailored to meet the needs of each community. The clinics provide education and training for community service providers and consult with local community professionals to evaluate people for assistive technology devices.

Our Mobile Outreach Clinic team includes certified orthotists, certified assistive technology practitioners, seating specialists, adaptive equipment specialists and rehabilitation engineers who evaluate the needs of clients for orthoses, seating and adaptive equipment. Doctors and certified nurse practitioners who focus on health care related to disabilities are also involved in the team.

Some of the services we provide include evaluating for custom seating, orthotics, computer access and communication system needs. We also fit, adjust and repair orthotics, seating systems, custom wheelchair
accessories and protective headgear during our outreach visits.

At these clinics, our specialists will:

  • Consult regarding a person's ability to use assistive technology devices
  • Fit, fabricate or modify assistive technology equipment
  • Train clients, families, caregivers, teachers, employers and others how to repair and operate assistive technology systems
  • Assess equipment needs for home, work or school

Our well-equipped mobile clinic allows us to fit and modify the following:

  • Upper and lower limb orthoses (braces)
  • Seating systems
  • Wheelchair adaptations
  • Protective headgear
  • Recreational equipment

We provide information, demonstrations and training for communication aids and computers. During these clinics, people are allowed to experiment with:

  • Alternative augmentative communication aids
  • Computer access equipment aids
  • Electronic aids to daily living
  • Recreational equipment
  • Powered mobility

At all of the Mobile Outreach clinics, funding assistance information and resource materials are available. Education and training in services can also be scheduled.
