We collect some basic web log file data about site visitors. This information includes domain names, web site traffic patterns and server usage statistics. This information is used for site management and administration and to improve the content and overall performance and user-experience on our site.
Cookies. As is standard practice for many websites, we might set cookies or other technologies that allow us to tailor gillettechildrens.org to visitor interests, help us analyze use of the site and provide visitors with a better experience. Please note that third parties, such as advertising agencies, might also set and access cookies or other technologies on a visitor’s computer when they use the site.

Pixels and Web Beacons. Pages on our Sites, or our e-mails, may contain small electronic files known as web beacons (also referred to as clear gifs, pixel tags, and single-pixel gifs) that permit us, for example, to count users who have visited those pages or opened an e-mail and for other related Sites statistics (for example, recording the popularity of certain Sites content and verifying system and server integrity).
Gillette Children's makes every reasonable effort to ensure that all of the transactions that occur on our web site are secure. We store personally identifiable data with Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption to protect information you may submit on our site. TSL is the industry standard protocol. Donations and Fundraising Events
When you donate to Gillette Children’s or register for a fundraising event, we ask you to voluntarily provide your name, address, telephone number, email address and credit card number so we can process your donation or event registration, send you a receipt or confirmation and communicate with you if necessary. If you'd like, you can provide that information another way (by phone or regular mail). When you make a gift on our site, your information goes into a database maintained by Gillette Children's Foundation, the philanthropic resource for Gillette Children's. The Foundation may then send you email or mailings about other opportunities to support the hospital. You may also opt out using any of the opt-out methods, such as check-box opt-outs, included in any fundraising solicitation by the Foundation. You may request at any time to change your mail preferences to receive specific kinds of mail from us, i.e. only newsletters or only event announcements, or no mail at all. If you would like to change your email or mailing preferences, you can contact us at 651-229-1726, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Gillette Children’s abides by the Donor Bill of Rights which was created by the American Association of Fund Raising Counsel (AAFRC), Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
Online donation transactions are handled using TSL-encrypted technology. Gillette and its technology vendors are PCI compliant.
Third-Party Service Providers
Gillette Children’s may engage reputable third-party vendors to help us manage our websites and allow us to better service our patients and visitors. The hospital never shares with third parties any personally identifiable information you provide when making a donation online, except as required by law.
Gillette Children’s does not collect your email address unless you voluntarily submit it to us or choose to communicate with us via email. Gillette Children’s and Gillette Children’s Foundation do not sell, redistribute, or rent any email addresses. Gillette adheres to CAN-SPAM guidelines and will honor users’ request to opt out of email communication at any time.

Gillette Children's uses the information you provide to fulfill your online request, facilitate customer service and inform you of our programs and events. We do not rent or sell visitors' personal information to third parties, such as marketers.
We inform the companies that help the Gillette Children's with donations made by credit card that they may not share or use personally identifiable information for any other purpose. We do not share any personally identifiable information we may collect in surveys, although we may share aggregated survey results with analysts, as described above. The aggregate data cannot be used to identify individuals and participation in the survey is voluntary.
It is possible that we could be forced to disclose personally identifiable user information in response to a search warrant, subpoena, or court order; that can happen to any organization keeping records. Disclosures may also be appropriate to protect our legal rights and the security or integrity of our Web site, or to avoid liability. Those kinds of disclosures are highly unlikely, but possible.
