What Friends Do

As a member, you might volunteer at the hospital, plan fundraising events and make individual contributions that support patient care.

For example, members:

  • Help to plan in-hospital partiesfeaturing activities such as making cookies, drawing scarecrows or making Valentinesfor patients and families six times each year.
  • Assist with the annual benefita family-friendly gala that raises awareness about Gillette and money for vital services
  • Host private fundraising parties and events

You can also help by raising awareness about the hospital, encouraging new memberships and assisting with essential tasks, such as mailings, ticket sales, thank you notes and much more.

"I began volunteering because I wanted to assist children who have differing abilities," explains Joni. She has served as a member of Friends of Gillette, helped with fundraising events, and thrown monthly birthday parties for patients at Gillette’s St. Paul campus.

How Friends Make a Difference

Since forming in 1985, Friends of Gillette has given more than $4 million to Gillette through fundraising activities and individual contributions. As a member, your contributions directly affect patient care and services. Over the years, we've supported Gillette's:

The Friends of Gillette Annual Benefit

The Friends of Gillette Annual Benefit is a family-friendly holiday gala that raises awareness of Gillette and money for its vital services. Each year’s event includes a night at the theater.

The Friends of Gillette ordially invites you to attend its 31st Annual Benefit, The Sound of Music, on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015 at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul, Minnesota!

For 2014, guests of the gala were treated to A Christmas Story: The Musical. Event-goers heard from Cole, whose treatment at Gillette for epilepsy ended his seizures and may have saved his life. The benefit, which raised more than $292,000, will help Gillette purchase functional MRI equipment for its patients who have epilepsy.

Since forming in 1985, the Friends of Gillette volunteer organization has raised more than $4 million to improve the lives of kids and adults like Cole who have disabilities or complex medical condition.
