Refer a Patient to Gillette Children's
Gillette specialists manage the care of specified health problems, but we don’t provide the overall, whole-person care that comes from a primary health care provider. We know that when our specialists partner with their patients’ primary health care providers, we see the best possible outcomes.
When you refer a child to Gillette, we meet with your patient, then contact you to discuss our care plan and follow-up recommendations.

Why Choose Gillette Children's
We Work With Your Patient’s Family
Parents and caregivers know their children best. And Gillette patients’ needs and treatments often have significant impacts on their family members. That’s why families are at the heart of our care teams. When we plan treatments and coordinate appointments, we consult with family members to make sure we’re considering their needs.
We Work With One Another
When we say our providers work in teams, we mean it. Many of our patients, due to their highly complex conditions, rely on the combined expertise of specialists in a variety of disciplines. Collaboration among Gillette providers helps patients make the most of their abilities and live as independently as possible.
Gillette employs a wide variety of specialists and support staff, all of whom have experience working with children who have disabilities and complex conditions. Our staff includes:
Physicians
Nurse practitioners
Nurses
Physical and occupational therapists
Speech and language pathologists
Orthotics, prosthetics and seating specialists
Seating specialists
Orthotists
Psychologists and neuropsychologists
Social workers
Child life specialists
Therapeutic recreation specialists
With these experts and others, we address many needs—medical and otherwise—that your patients and their families experience while at Gillette.
Gillette Children's campus and clinics offer accessible features for those who use wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility aids. Wide doorways, sliding doors, even floor surfaces, elevator and ramp access, and single-press automatic door openers are just some of the ways Gillette clinics have been designed with the needs of our patient population and community in mind. Our rehabilitation therapy spaces provide safe options for weight support and transfers, utilizing ceiling lifts and other specialized equipment. Our onsite restrooms have a larger footprint to accommodate individuals who need assistance, including tables in select spaces to facilitate incontinence brief or diaper changes as needed.
Gillette Children's staff are specially trained to care for individuals with disabilities, while being highly sensitive to their unique needs. For example, our radiologic technologists understand how to perform imaging tests for people who use seating systems or wear metal fixators following limb-length surgery. For patients who cannot remain still or whose disability or pain might interfere with the successful completion of an imaging exam, we offer several types of sedation services.
