Family Engagement in Research: Real Lives, Real Impact
At Gillette Children’s, Family Engagement in Research (FER) is transforming the way we approach pediatric care. As one of the first pediatric FER programs in the country, Gillette’s approach is made possible through dedicated philanthropic support, which fuels patient-centered research that improves outcomes and sets us apart in the field of pediatric specialty care. Through FER, Gillette brings together clinicians, researchers, and lived experience partners to shape studies that are compassionate, relevant, and rooted in real life.
Leading from Shared Experience
Haley Brunelle, Gillette’s FER Coordinator and recipient of the Paula F. Goldberg Champion for Children with Disabilities Award, exemplifies this innovative model. Inspired by her journey as a caregiver to her son Felix, Haley ensures that the voices of families are woven into every step of the research process. Donor support ensures that Gillette can fund innovative, patient-centered research that might otherwise go unexplored - empowering people like Haley to bring vital, lived expertise to the table.
