An important Gillette value is to Be a Dream Accomplice – to partner with patients, families and colleagues in small and large ways to realize their dreams as they each create their own story.

One way we are manifesting this value is through the creation of the Gillette Children’s Philanthropy Board. The group’s inaugural chair, Scott Ward, is one of 15 members.

“Over the years, I have become deeply committed to the mission of Gillette Children’s,” he says. “I see a lot of value in providing the support and resources necessary for Gillette’s medical staff to help more children – and also to fundamentally change the practice of medicine and improve outcomes over a child’s lifetime.”

Scott leads the philanthropy board as it seeks to engage a diverse group of individuals, corporations, and foundations to become charitable financial partners to improve care and the quality of lives for Gillette patients.

“The impressive thing about Gillette has always been that we don’t wait for innovation to arrive at our doorstep,” he says. “We strive to enable even greater innovation. Through philanthropy, we can provide the resources necessary for our medical staff to fulfill their vision.”

Scott has extensive healthcare experience and was most recently the CEO and chairman of the board of Cardiovascular Systems Inc, following a 30-year career at Medtronic.

He and his wife Kathy have five children and reside in the Twin Cities. He enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his nine grandchildren.

We are so grateful for Scott’s leadership and the commitment of all the philanthropy board members to serve the mission of Gillette and help more children reach their full potential.
