For nearly 40 years, Walmart and Sam’s Club in Minnesota have been part of the Children’s Miracle Network, raising critical funds to support Gillette patients and families. This summer, their annual month-long campaign turned everyday checkouts into extraordinary impact – raising more than $744,000, a 15% increase from last year.

Associates led the charge, inspiring customers to give at the register, creating fun breakroom food sales, putting donation buckets at store entrances, and planning creative team events. “Every year, associates surprise me with their dedication and innovation,” shares Elizabeth Riehl, Gillette Development Officer who works alongside Walmart and Sam’s. “It’s exciting to see the energy they put into this effort.”

Still, the heart of the campaign lies with frontline employees who take the time to share Gillette’s story with customers and teammates, inspiring generosity. “Donations don’t happen without someone starting the conversation,” Elizabeth emphasized. “Their commitment was the driving force behind the campaign’s success. It’s hard to fully express our gratitude.”

For some, including Roberto Enriquez, Complex Market Manager for Walmart and Gillette parent, the mission is especially personal.

"The partnership between Walmart and Gillette Children’s is deeply personal to me”, he says. “Every dollar raised through this campaign represents hope, compassion, and the possibility of a brighter future for children like my son. I'm proud to work for a company that not only stands beside Gillette in its mission to help kids live their best lives, but also empowers associates like me to make a meaningful difference in the communities we serve.”

Gillette Champion Brings Joy to Local Walmart

One special moment captured the spirit of the campaign perfectly. Leo St. Martin, Gillette’s 2025 local Champion, happened to be shopping with his dad at his neighborhood Walmart when associates recognized him. “Is that Champion Leo?!” they exclaimed, excited to see the face of their campaign in person – creating an impromptu meet and greet with a few associates that showed what this campaign is truly for: real kids, in our own communities.

Gillette is deeply grateful to Walmart, Sam’s Club, their associates, and every customer who gave so generously this summer, making a life-changing difference for Gillette patients and families.
