The Gillette Approach to Rett and Related Disorders
From initial diagnosis to treatment planning and lifelong care, Gillette Children’s offers comprehensive, multidisciplinary support to patients with Rett syndrome and related disorders.
As an International Rett Syndrome Foundation (IRSF) Center of Excellence, our pediatric experts in rare disease, complex care, orthopedic surgery, and rehabilitation medicine and therapies are here to support your family every step of the way.
What Sets Gillette Apart in Rett Syndrome Care
As an IRSF Center of Excellence, Gillette Children’s is proud to be one among just 20 IRSF centers nationwide. This designation recognizes our commitment to best-in-class medical care and consultation, in addition to the advancement of clinical research into Rett syndrome and related disorders.
From the efficacy of gene therapies to studies on cognitive function during treatment, Gillette Children’s research and clinical teams pioneer leading-edge research into treatment and therapies for Rett and related disorders.
Because scoliosis is common in Rett syndrome, spine health is routinely monitored as part of care at Gillette Children’s. Our orthopedic spine specialists partner with the Rett Syndrome Clinic team to provide coordinated, multidisciplinary care, including advanced surgical planning and support tailored to the unique needs of patients with Rett syndrome.
Because Rett syndrome is a lifelong condition, we offer comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for patients from infancy into adulthood, including support in transitioning from pediatric to adult care specialties at Gillette or in the community.
Our pediatric experts in complex care, neurology, rehabilitation medicine, orthopedics, and rehabilitation therapies are available through our Rett Syndrome Clinic to provide seamless support, with multiple specialty appointments available across a single day to reduce required travel on the part of patients and their families.
