A commitment to sustainable operations supports healthier patients, staff, and communities.
Greenhealth Leader Award
Gillette Children’s received the 2026 Greenhealth Leader Award from Practice Greenhealth, the leading membership and networking organization for sustainable health care, in recognition of its achievement and innovation in health care sustainability. The Greenhealth Leader Award, recognizes Gillette’s ongoing commitment to strengthen its environmental performance and embed sustainability into your operations and culture.
“The health care sector is claiming its role as a guardian of public health by refusing to contribute to the problem. Sustainability isn't a side project – it’s a core business strategy that drives resilience, saves money, and, most importantly, fulfills our mission to heal,” said Health Care Without Harm and Practice Greenhealth CEO Emily Bancroft. “The health care system of the future – one that heals both the patient and the planet – is being built right here, by Gillette Children’s”
The Greenhealth Leader Award is one of Practice Greenhealth’s Environmental Excellence Awards, given annually to honor health care organizations that have embedded sustainability and resilience into their operations and culture.
Stryker’s Sustainability Solutions Environmental Excellence Award
Like many hospitals nationwide, Gillette is committed to expanding sustainability initiatives that help reduce the environmental footprint of care delivery. One of the most impactful ways we are transforming everyday inventory decisions into measurable impact is through the reprocessing of single‑use medical devices.
Through reprocessing, devices that would typically enter the waste stream are instead collected, inspected, cleaned, function‑tested, sterilized and repackaged by our partner, Stryker’s Sustainability Solutions, in accordance with FDA guidelines. This circular approach helps us reduce waste, strengthen supply resilience and extend the usefulness of our inventory. Thanks to our team’s collective efforts and dedication to a high‑performing reprocessing program in 2025, Gillette earned the Silver Environmental Excellence Award. This recognition reflects the meaningful impact our staff makes every day - both for our patients and for the environment.
